Robert Lee Evans


Robert Lee Evans, 79, of Friendship, died Tuesday, July 20, 1999, at the Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born Sept. 28, 1919, in Adams County, to the late Alpha and Bertha Newman Evans. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Carpenters local 437 as well as the Moose Lodge and the Eagles. He was an Army WWII veteran, a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the James Dickey Post American Legion. In 1998 he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Belle Blevins Evans, whom he married on Aug. 2, 1940 in Blue Creek, OH. He is also preceded in death by one daughter, Edith Mae Ridner, and an infant son. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law; Bobby Lee Evans of Blue Creek; Ronnie and Tammy Evans of Pond Creek; Alfred and Wanda Evans of Friendship; two daughters; Nola Coe of Lucasville; Bertha Ilene Lindamood of Seattle, WA; one brother, Homer Evans of West Union; two sisters, Jo Meranda of Seaman; Corey Hayward of West Union; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Burial in Sunshine Ridge Cemetery. Graveside Military Rites conducted by the James Dickey Post American Legion. Arrangements under the direction of the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth.
