This company was mustered in 02 Dec 1861, at Camp Dennison OH and was mustered out 22 Jul 1865. The company was raised about Locust Grove in Adams County and Ripley in Brown County.

The original officers were: Daniel T. Cockerill, captain, who was promoted to major 24 Jul 1864; Samuel M. Espey, first lieutenant, resigned 15 Jun 1862; Giles J. Cockerill, first lieutenant, promoted to captain of Company D 16 Mar 1834; George W. Blair, second lieutenant, resigned 15 Jan 1862; John Lynch, second lieutenant.

This battery participated in the following battles: Corinth MS advanced on 18 Apr-30 May 1862; Stone River TN 31 Dec 1862-02 Jan 1863; Chickamauga TN 19-20 Sep 1863.
