James Madison Sutterfield



James Madison Sutterfield, a highly respected resident of Ishawooa, expired Saturday night at 5:45 o'clock after a years illness with a complication of diseases. He has been afflicted with prostate glands and went to Hot Springs, South Dakota last winter for treatment and operation. His condition, however, did not warrant the operation and he returned to Park County, in impaired health. He caught cold, which settled in his head and caused an affectation of the brain. Mr. Sutterfield was born 74 years ago at Wilksville, Adams county Ohio, but went to Illinois at an early age, where he volunteered for Civil War service; being a member of the 17th Illinois regiment for over three years. He lived twenty-five years in Iowa and South Dakota and has been in this section of Wyoming the last four years. He is survived by the following children out the the twelve born to himself and wife: Orville of Texas, Fred in California, Edward in South Dakota; Albert of Chadron, Nebr, and J.W. Sutterfield of Ishawooa; Mrs. Anne Oskins of Missouri and Nancy Wolf of Iowa. The son Albert arrived here Tuesday to attend the funeral. The funeral took place Wednesday morning, with the Cody Masons in charge. Rev. Mr. Dunn preached the discourse and the remains were laid to rest in the Cody cemetery.
