James Franklin Smalley, Sr.
James Franklin Smalley, Sr., 68, of West Union, died Monday, April 29, 2002, at the Clermont Mercy Hospital in Batavia. He was born in Adams County on Apr 6, 1934, the son of the late Sanford and America (Burgett) Smalley. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Surviviors include three sons, Jim Smalley of Wilmington, Gary Smalley of West Union, and Bobby Smalley of Sabina; four daughters, Marsha Smalley and Tonia Smalley, both of Wilmington, Melissa Taylor of West Union, and Gaila Shelton of Manchester; two brothers, Bill Smalley of Peebles, and Larry Smalley of Seaman; three sisters, JoAnn Johnson, Sandy Moore, and Grace Davis, all of Peebles; nine granchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Johnny Smalley. Services wer held Friday, May 3, at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles with John Whaley officiating.
