John Sheeley, son of John and Rosanna Shupert Sheeley, was born May 1, 1858, and departed this life Jan. 27, 1934, age 75 years, 8 months, and 26 days. He lived all his life near West Union. He was one of a family of 12 children, four surviving him: Lewis of West Union, Ohio, and Samuel and David from Manchester, Ohio, and Charles of Peoria, Illinois. He was married to Caroline Steck Feb. 10, 1886, who survives him. To this union was born nine children, two having preceeded him in death. Those surviving are: Mrs. Ottis Grooms, of Peebles, Ohio; Mrs. S.E. Charles, of Xenia, Ohio; David, of Stout, Ohio; Clarence and Oscar of West Union, Ohio; Estel, of Peebles, Ohio; and Mrs. C. H. Weichers, Xenia, Ohio. He also leaves eleven grandchildren. He united with the United Brethern Church about 35 years ago. Five years ago he transferred his membership to the Christian Union Church, West Union. He was a faithful and beloved member, devoted to God's service, and faithfully attended church services when health permitted. He will be sadly missed by the church, relatives, and friends and especially by his wife and children. They sorrow not as they that have no hope, but can look forward to that great reunion around the throne of God where there will be no separation and no good-byes.
