Alvie Shoemaker, Jr.



Alvie Shoemaker, Jr., 70, died at his home in Peebles on Wednesday, April 8. He was born in Peebles, April 4, 1928, the son of the late Alvie and Sylvia O. (Day) Shoemaker. He was a member of the Peebles United Methodist Church, Peebles F&AM Lodge #581, the Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati, Syrian Temple Shrine Club of Cincinnati and the Peebles Lions Club. Survivors include his wife, Joyce (Burchett) Shoemaker; father-in-law, Jesse H. Burchett of Portsmouth; a sister, Mabel Drummond of South Salem; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Alice Burchett of Sumter, S.C.; also several nieces and nephews. Services were held Saturday, April 11, at the Brooke-Lafferty-Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles, Susan Rhoads and Bill Ryan, co-officiating. Burial followed in the Locust Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Hope or to the Peebles United Methodist Church
