Wilma A. Perry



Wilma A. Perry, 84, of Columbus, formerly of Locust Grove, died Sunday, Jan 14, 2001, at the Wesley Glen Retirement Center. She was born on Sept. 18, 1916, in Adams County, the daughter of the late Everett H. and Edna (Herdman) Shoemaker. She was a member of the Locust Grove Methodist Church, retired after 21 years of teaching in the Franklin, Peebles and Belfast school systems and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include three brothers, Glenn Shoemaker of Nashville, Tenn., Dr. Larry Shoemaker of Powell, and Merlan Shoemaker of Cocoa, Fla.; one sister, Bonnie Herdman of Hillard; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Perry, on Jan 2 1998; one brother and one sister. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan 17, 11 a.m., at the Loucst Grove United Methodist Church with Wayne Edingfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery. Visitation was held Tuesday at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles.
