Raymond Lee McCann



Raymond Lee McCann, 72, of West Union, died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at the Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth. He was born near Trinity, Ky, on Dec 22 1928, son to the late Van and Stella (Deatley) McCann. He was the retired owner and operator of the former West Union Hardware for 41 years and assisted with Corner Crafts-Living Water of West Union for 5 1/2 years. He was a charter member of the West Union Church of Christ, a member of the West Union American Legion Young-Moore Post 100, and the Jerusalem Grange No. 2089 in Liberty Township. He was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife, Rose McCann of West Union, one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Teresa McCann of West Union; one granddaughter and husband, one grandson, and one great-grandson; one aunt, Beulah King of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 26, at the Lafferty Funeral Home in West Union with James Newman and Dave Olender officiating. Visitation was held on Friday, May 25, at the funeral home. Burial took place in the Kirker Cemetery near Bentonville with military graveside services performed by the Marine Corps Honor Guard and the Adams County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the donor's choice.
