GUS KEMMETER PASSES AFTER LONG ILLNESS

August "Gus" Kemmeter, 77, well known Manchester resident died Saturday at 11 p.m. at his home at Manchester, shortly after being returned from Adams County hospital where he had been a patient for the past week. He had been in failing health for the past five months.

He was born in Higginsport and was a son of the late Frank and Mary Meudorfer Kemmeter. The family moved to Manchester in 1900 and for a number of years operated a baking business. For many years Mr. Kemmeter operated the Riverby near Manchester. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic church in Manchester.

He is survived by two sons, Richard L. of Minford and John of Manchester and two grandchildren.

Mass was intoned at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's church by Father Steinkamp, rector of St. Mary's. Burial was in Manchester cemetery.
