William L. Hitchcock


William L. Hitchcock departed this life on Friday, February 13, 1998, at the Adams County Hospital. Bill was born March 27, 1917, at Naugatuck, West Virginia. He was the son of William McKinley and Carrie (Maynard) Hitchcock. The family moved to Winchester, Ohio, in 1926 and Bill graduated from Winchester High School in 1936. He was a member of the Winchester United Methodist Church. He was involved in the motion picture business in his early years and was a former employee of National Theater Supply. He was the owner of the Arcano Theater in Winchester, and the JoAnn Theater in Sardinia, Ohio, and was later employed by the General Electric Company. Bill was married to Betty Jo Smith on November 25, 1938. This union was blessed with two children. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Betty Jo; a son, Joe Bill Hitchcock and wife, Sandy, of Georgetown, Ohio; a daughter, Betty Ann Tumbleson and husband, William, of Winchester, Ohio; three granddaughters, Kristi Ruark, Lori Baldridge and husband, Brian, and Sandra Tumbleson; and four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Andrew Ruark, Casey and Alyson Baldridge.
