Alva B. Hamilton


Alva B. Hamilton, 81, of Ohio 348, Otway, died Monday, Sept. 21, 1992, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. Born April 4, 1911, in Adams County, a son of the late Ernest and Margaret Watson Hamilton, he had been an employee of Ohio Department of Transportation, retiring after 30 years of service, and was a member of Otway Church of Christ in Christian Union. Surviving are his wife, Ethel A. Hill Hamilton, whom he married Jan 15, 1938; three daughters, Shirley L. Goodman of Rarden, Sandy K. Goodman of Locust Grove, and Victoria L. Hamilton of Portsmouth; a granddaughter, Heather Hamilton of Gallipolis, whom he had reared; 10 other grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Hugh, Esto and Chester Hamilton; and four sisters, Hazel Brannon, Garnet Hamilton, Ruth Loderbach and Ruby Faye Hamilton. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Botkin Funeral Home in Otway, with the Rev. Ray B. Lute officiating, and interment in Moore's Chapel Cemetery at Blue Creek. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
