Emily D. Grooms
Mrs. Emily D. Grooms, 81, died at her home on Tuesday at 10:20 a.m. Infirmities of old age caused her death. She is survived by six sons: Chester, of Gallipolis; Terry [sic; Perry], of Peebles; Curtis, of Leesburg; Elbert, of near Waverly; Edgar, of Chillicothe; and Gideon, of Waverly. Funeral services will be held from the Mount Zion Church of near Latham with the Rev. E. A. Keaton, of the Church of Christ in Christian Union of North High Street, Chillicothe, officiating and burial will be in the adjoining cemetery under the direction of the A.M. Gregg Co., of Waverly. [NB: Emily (01 Oct 1856/Highland Co OH-26 Apr 1938/Pike Co OH) m. Thomas E. Grooms on 11 Nov. 1878. Other children not listed here: baby girl (b/d 1879), Wheeler B. Grooms (Sep 1880-Sep 1880, 11 days), Robert Earl Grooms (1887-1888), Flory Belle (1890-1890, 2 mo), and Della F Grooms (1891-1906). Emily's maiden name was Bruce.]
