Alfred Nelson Fisher

Alfred Nelson Fisher was born March 10, 1883, and was cruelly murdered January 1, 1906. He was the only son of Boliver and Orpea Fisher. He was converted at a meeting held at the Cedar school house in 1897, and united with the M.E. church. Alfred was a dutiful son, a loving brother and a true friend.

He leaves a father, mother and two sisters and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his sad death. The golden bowl is broken, the silver cord loosened, but we will meet our loved one in a brighter and better world, where the wicked cease from troubling and the weary are at rest. The following beautiful lines from C. W. seem to touch a tender cord in our sad hearts:

Weep not for a brother deceased
       Our loss is his infinite gain;
A soul out of prison released,
       And freed from its chain;
With songs let us follow his flight
       And mount with his spirit above,
Escaped to the mansions of light,
       And lodged in the Eden of love.

Our brother the haven hath gained,
       Outflying the tempest and wind;
His rest he hath sooner obtained,
       And left his companions behind.
Still tossed on a sea of distress,
       Has toiling to make the blest shore,
Where all is assurance and peace,
       And sorrows and sin are no more.

There all the ship's company meet,
       Who sailed with the Savior beneath,
With shouting each other they greet,
       And triumpt o'er sorrow and death,
The voyage of life's at an end.
       The mortal affliction is past
The age that in heaven they spend
       Forever and ever shall last.
